About the Temple
Omkareshwar Temple sits on Mandhata island in the Narmada river, shaped like the holy Om symbol. The Jyotirlinga here is worshipped as Omkareshwar or Mamleshwar alongside the island shrine.
Pilgrims combine parikrama of the island with darshan, abhishek, and Narmada snan for a complete tirtha experience.
Heritage
History
Omkareshwar features in multiple Puranic accounts linking the Narmada to Shiva's grace. The island's geology and the confluence of faith traditions make it one of central India's most picturesque tirthas.
Maratha-era patronage and ongoing state support have preserved ritual continuity at the shrine.
